Blossoming gardens and an Alpine panorama

Feudal castles and secluded mountain cabins. Gourmet restaurants and quaint lodges. Luxury hotels and historic farmsteads. Spas and wanderlust.

Schenna trades on the special mix of South Tyrollean charm and Mediterranean lifestyle. Seven districts on the sunny slopes atop Meran cater for every holidaymaker’s taste.

Palms or pastures?

Amidst vineyards and orchards, the village with its seven districts extends over an area of 48 square kilometers. While a Mediterranean way of life can be enjoyed under palms and cypresses in Schenna-village at 600 meters, the mountain village Videgg  at 1,536 meters stands already in an Alpine setting.

Apple blossom or Indian summer?

Schenna boasts with sunshine 300 days per year and is worth a journey in any season: the fragrance of millions of apple trees in blossom imbues the air in spring - from beginning to end of April. In summer Alpine roses paint the meadows rosy red. Golden vine leaves make valleys and slopes shine in fall. And in winter white mountain crests glisten under a bright blue sky.

Irrigation canals or a mountain hike?

Whether relisher or mountaineer, Schenna offers everyone a hiking delight around the local mountains Hirzer (2,781 meters) and Ilfinger (2,581 meters): hiking paths wind along gurgling irrigation canals. Pleasant walks lead to huts and pastures. On alpine tours Meraner Land lies literally at the feet of the mountaineers. The hiking area of Schenna covers around 200 kilometers of waymarked trails of all altitudes and levels of difficulty. Five cable cars and two chair lifts help the ascent, and the Schenna card offers a substantial discount.
